The Tachikawa Festival Showa Kinen Park Fireworks offers some of Tokyo’s clearest sightlines due to the park’s vast open spaces. The event launches approximately 5,000 shells, drawing 300,000 spectators to the central Minna no Harappa field. Though park entry becomes free in the early evening, arriving before 5:00 PM is highly recommended to secure a prime spot. It remains a top choice for those seeking an unobstructed hanabi experience away from the city’s narrower riverbanks.
The park is most easily reached via the Nishi-Tachikawa Station on the JR Ome Line, which is just a two-minute walk from the park entrance. Because the free entry period typically starts in the late afternoon, the gates experience extreme congestion; paying the small standard entrance fee earlier in the day is the best strategy for professional photographers and families alike. Please note that the event is subject to cancellation in the case of stormy weather, and unlike many other firework events, a postponement to the following day is rarely scheduled.
